Kevin Howarth Age Group 2

No matter your ability, it’s your choice to listen, apply, and push yourself to a higher level.

Coach Kevin Howarth was born into a swimming family. He learned to swim at the age of five by his father who competed and loved the sport. He passed on this love to his four sons, who in turn started a 3rd generation of swimmers. Kevin swam year round with his brothers, competed in many open water races, and was a member of the Ventnor City Beach Patrol. Entering Atlantic City High School, Kevin chose football where he was starting quarterback and also played basketball. After attending Atlantic Community College, he joined the Ventnor City Fire Department, retired as a fire captain after 32 years, operated and retired from a successful landscaping business and is currently employed as the lifeguard for EHTHS.

Kevin enjoys spending time with his wife Debbie of 32 years, and their four daughters; Paige, Mackenzie, Shannon and Bailey, who all swam for the Seahawks each for 13 years. Having worked for 20 years with the Seahawks, Kevin was a Seahawks board member and held the position of President for many years. He was instrumental in hiring head coach Brian Elko, in which together transitioned the team into a year round USA swim club. Kevin has been coaching since 1999 and is currently the age group 2 coach.

"I love to see the development of children from a young age to an adult. Not just in the sport of swimming, but also their development in life. I take great pleasure to be in a position to have an effect on their life as they mature through the years as a Seahawk."

Caitlin Moore email

Coach Caitlin is a Seahawks alumni and an EHT High School class of 2020 graduate. She has been competitively swimming since the age of 6, joined Seahawks at the age of 9, and swam all the way through until her senior year. Even though she enjoyed competing in the pool she decided to try open water swimming and fell in love with it. She has done many races over the years including the Pageant swim 1 mile, Open Water Zones Connecticut 5k, Escape the Cape 5k, Swim for the Potomac 5k, Cedar Island 5k, Wildwood Point to Point 1 mile, and various Beach Patrol races for Brigantine Beach Patrol. Caitlin is currently enrolled at Atlantic Cape Community college continuing her education to get a degree as an Elementary school teacher. In her spare time she loves to workout at the gym, spend time at the beach, get in the water whenever she can, and hangout with her cat! Even though she is a college student, Caitlin decided to come back and become a coach for the team that fostered her love for swimming, and to spread her love and knowledge of the sport to the younger athletes.

Laura Bassford Assistant Coach

Coach Laura Bassford initially started swimming when she began with her summer swim club at the age of 8. Laura graduated from F&M with a government /history degree and currently teaches social studies. After college, Laura began coaching with the Seahawks and working with the senior groups with Coach Brian.
